I bought this plant 2 years ago at the grocery store. It proceeded to die (I thought). But, I kept watering it and treating it like the other house plants. All of a sudden this year it came to life. Meet the sun star.

My Best TV Commercial to date hands down is the E*Trade talking baby ads in particular Golf Baby and Singing Baby which played during the Super Bowl – brilliantly funny! See them all including the PG13 Outtakes not seen on TV at ETrade.com/Baby.

Being the photographer and web designer for the Cooks Canvas, I have the added perk of being able to sample the great dishes presented in this new Cook’s Canvas 2 cookbook. They are all so good, I had three of these bourbon slushes and all I can say is… bourbon is the new vodka – these are really good!

I was lucky to get this shot. I saw him right in the center of the yard and ran in for my camera. By the time I got this one shot off it was just vanishing into the woods on the left. I honestly thought I missed him. It pays to have lots of pixels though. The closeups look a bit fuzzy and abstract, but I think they’re cool and hope you like them. Can’t see the red fox? I come from a family of brilliant cooks, of whom I am of course the best. Seriously, my sister Ann is really good in a kitchen, making large events look easy and the food not only looks good – but tastes incredible. Here is the world’s best banana pudding she made for my mother’s birthday. It’s actually called Not Yo’ Mama’s Banana Pudding by Paula Deen.

My sister and her family in Central Texas woke up New Year’s Day to wild turkeys at their front door and on the top of my nephew’s car. He “wanted to shoot ‘em and make jerky.”

The largest full moon of the year (which created the highest and lowest tides of the season) peaked through storm clouds over the SunSpree Resort at Wrightsville Beach NC. I had a great time on my “staycation”. Thanks to Ann Marie, Joe and the rest of the friendly staff for a wonderful visit!
