Pileated Woodpecker

Pileated Woodpecker

I was fortunate to be invited by my new friend Jill at Wild Bird & Garden to the Airlie Gardens morning bird walk. It’s every second Wednesday of the month and tons of fun. We saw a total of “25 species of birds including three pileated woodpeckers” according to Matthew Collogan Environmental Education Program Coordinator at Arlie and our guide. The birds we spotted were entered by Matt into a wonderful online database eBird.org (free and open for all to use) and before I was back home Matt had emailed a full report of what we saw! We were also able to watch a mother humming bird feed her two babies with the help of two bird scopes thanks to Jill and brilliant local photographer Chuck Carmack.

Coming soon the brilliance of the North Carolina Oyster Shell Recycling project.
