Percy Glaspie Classic Golf Tournament

Percy Glaspie was employed at Cape Fear Country for over 50 years as the Green’s Keeper. A self taught golfer and member of the Port City Golf Association. Percy has done it all in golf. His drive and determination has won him numerous trophies. He was the “Tiger Woods” of his era. Come out and support this worthy cause and honor Percy!

Island Ski By

The largest undisturbed barrier island along the southern part of the North Carolina coast is Masonboro Island, located approximately five miles southeast of Wilmington NC. The Masonboro site is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway to the west, Masonboro Inlet to the north and Carolina Beach Inlet to the south.

I took this with full zoom at 10 mpx, then cropped to this shot of me watching the three boaters, watching the two hotshots on their wave runners in the marshy backwater by Masonboro Island. The vast Atlantic Ocean backdrops.

“Evidence suggests that the first stretch of continental American coastline described by a European explorer may have been the beach now called Masonboro Island. The explorer was Giovanni da Verrazzano, the year, 1524. During the Civil War, Masonboro’s beaches were visited by three blockade runners and one Union blockader.” read more
